I loved you best!

We have had a hard time at our house this week. Charlie passed away, it sure is crazy how much life can change in a split second. There definately is a hole in our family now and we feel incomplete.

He wasnt sick or anything like that, maybe that would have made it a little easier. We let him out Tuesday night with Annie to go to the bathroom before bed (their nightly routine). Normally we wait by the door until they are finished and ready to come in. But for some reason that night was different and we forgot to let them back in. He wandered up to main street three blocks away and got hit. Just as simple as that. Devin found out the next morning when he was greeted outside by Annie. He was very calm when he told me the news. I on the other hand was not. we try not to think about how that all happened and focus on him and what a great dog he was.

Annie has been lost without him. She was basically his shadow and followed him everywhere he went. Eating, sleeping, playing, and of course cuddling they did all that together. She is slowly getting back to becoming more independant but since we have only had her for 3-4 months we feel like we still dont know her. She is a different dog without Charlie around. We almost forget she is here. She now spends most of her time sleeping downstairs. We got her for Charlie so he could have a companion. We might have to do the same for her one day.

Charlie was going to be three years old at the end of October. So we had him for about 2 1/2 years not very long, but he went through alot with us.
The night that we got him was really spontaneous. Devin and I were on our way to my brother in-laws when we got two flat tires one right after the other. So we decided to go home instead. I jumped on the computer when we got home and the first thing I saw was Charlie (I guess it was meant to be). We had been talking about getting a dog. Devin had said that he wanted a boxer, so that was what I looked for. This was a picture of him when we first got him. We brought him home late that night. He was 6 months old. He was such a sweetheart.

every sunday we took Charlie and Annie to my parents to play with the gang. If you cant tell already my whole family is huge dog lovers. We just cant get enough of them.

I miss coming through the door and seeing this face. Charlie with a toy in his mouth wiggling his butt back and forth because he didnt really have a tail whining because he was so excited to see us he couldn't contain himself. So funny.

probably the thing i miss most about Charlie is how much he loved to cuddle. He would try and squeeze his large boxer body in the most awkward places just to be close. Even if it meant you were hanging halfway off the couch.

He was so content being as close as he could.
Charlie loved to rough house with Devin and would never give up even if devin tormented him.

He loved to play with the kids, and lick them to death. This picture makes me laugh because he was so obediant that night. He probably hated the stupid antlers and bow but he did it for us.
lol poor guy.

Dev and Charlie were alot alike. both of them have a hiper side to them (sorry babe but its true) and they both can be entertained with toys and things that go fast. :)

We had a hard time deciding where to bury him. We wanted him to be in a place that we would be able to visit and remember him for years to come. So we buried him at my mother in-laws. We planted this tree in remembrance of him. that was a hard day.

The tree we planted blooms in the spring summer and fall...perfect! It has these pretty purple blossoms on it.

I will never forget Charlie, he had a huge impact on our lives as well as many family members. I still cant believe he is gone. We would take him to some groomers up town every once in awhile to get him groomed and they loved him. They were so sad to hear that he had passed away and sent me this poem on facebook i think it fits very well.
I LOVED YOU BEST
So this is where we part my friend.
And you'll run on around the bend.
Gone from sight but not from mind.
New pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on i'll find the strength.
Life measures quality not its length.
One long embrace before you leave.
One last look before I grieve.
There are others that much is true.
But they be they and they aren't you.
And I fair impartial or so I thought.
Will remember well all you've taught.
Your place i'll hold you will be missed.
The fur I stroked the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest
Take with you this.
I LOVED YOU BEST!
We love you Buddy and will miss you always.

Nursery Reveal

BEFORE

AFTER

I have gotten behind in posting and decided that it was time to reveal Daxtons room. I was really happy with how it turned out. I really wanted to make it bright and cheery and wanted to stay away from the typical baby pastel colors. I decided on orange, blue, and green. I think he will love it.

This is an old window from our house before the new windows were put in. My brother and sister inlaw put the vinyl on it for me and I love it, they did a great job.

I had these stars alrady and since there are stars in his bedding I thought "how perfect" so I spray painted them orange and blue. you cant really tell in this picture but the wall is a bright green and we painted a black border around the top. Also we added alot of bead board which I am a big fan of. We also pulled up the carpet and refinished the wood floor in a dark walnut stain. Im so proud of my hubby. It was his first time and it was ALOT of work. One day I will put a rug down for my little man.
I searched and searched for bedding and maybe im just too picky but I couldnt find anything that I really liked, sooo I went to berninas in Logan and saw this fabric and instantly my brain started flowing with ideas It was exactly what I wanted. I bought a pattern and started working I did the skirt and part of the bumper finally I was a little overwhelmed with the project (since it was my first time doing a sewing project that huge). My friends mother inlaw made her the cutest baby bedding for her little girl so I sort of asked and she sort of offered to finish it for me. I dont know how I pulled that one off. she did such an amazing job. What an amazing talent she has.

So I had to show off the little bit that I did because it was still alot of work. Im still pretty proud of myself.

The hubsters did a whole wall of bead board for me. It was something that I always wanted to do. He also got this picture for me a couple years ago for christmas and finally it is hung where it was meant to be.

my sister inlaw who shares the same love woth me of all things crafty gave me these blocks and they are perfect it also goes well with the cheery bright theme. the dresser i would have loved to have bought at the D.I. or yard sale and refinished it bought but since I had just had Dax there was no way that was happening. We found this one on KSL already painted and glazed. Its very boyish to me and goes great in the nursery. We also got his hand and foot impressions at a childs touch in logan. SO CUTE!

This changing table we bought for 15.oo on KSL it was an almond color and we painted it black to match his crib.

This picture shows the color of his walls alot better. These pictures of Dax were something I had in my mind for a looong time. I knew I wanted a canvas look but canvas is soo dang over priced so I found some canvas pictures at ross for $8.00 and painted the sides black. I than mod podged the pictures on and it turned out better than expected. The mod podge also left a linen texture on the top which was perfect. if I would have bought these in regular canvas I probably would have spent close to or over $100.00.

So thats it. Little Dax is going to have so much fun in his bright cheery room.

{ TEMPLE DAY WITH ELDER JENSEN }

My litttle brother Garrett got his mission call to Berlin Germany. He leaves August 4th. The little annoying brother that I always knew has finally grown up ;). We have all been so impressed by him at how he has been preparing himself. For pretty much this whole past year he has become mentally and especially spiritually ready. We all got the chance to visit the temple with him last week. We are going to miss you Garrett.

PROJECTS

I have been on the internet lately looking up different ideas for projects that I can do to start getting our house sort of put together. Also to get ideas for how we want to remodel and finding any sort of inspiration to get me motivated. I wanted to try glazing some furniture and was a little scared at first but was amazed at the results once I was finished. I have glazed whole walls before in our condo and also a couple of other walls in my moms and friends homes but never tried my hand at furniture.

I thought I would start off small and then get to the bigger projects. So first off I started with this picture frame that I already had from our wedding. I painted it blue ocean breeze (krylon Brand) and than glazed it with a black glaze (Ralph lauren Brand). It was easier than I thought it would be. I wish I had before pictures but it was just a gold color before.

Than came the bigger project I had these two end tables that I had gotten at the DI and had painted them black. since we already have enough dark furniture in our house I wasn't really diggin the black color that it was. I wanted to do it a color that I normally wouldnt do, something out of my comfort zone. I really wish I had a before pic of what it was when I first got them. Just picture a really ugly 70's style brown and you got it right on the money. I love the color and the glaze really makes the detail pop.

Im likin how they turned out. I still have some other ideas up my sleeve though to tie in this color to our living room. I would recommend visiting the all things thrifty blog. I have the button on my blog, She is amazing. That is where I found the idea to paint and glaze these endtables this color. Here are a few ideas I would like to do for pillows I just need to find some fabric so I can make them. I like the green and turquoise.

This last saturday there were about twenty yard sales in the paper and I hear all the time that yard sales are the best places to find hidden treasures. So my mom and I went on a hunt. I was hoping to find either a small skinny bench for our entry or a small little entry table. Also I wanted to find an old wooden chair with or without a cushion. We went to quite a few before I finally found everything all in one place.

I need to start taking before pictures I just get to anxious to get everything painted but here is an entry way table that I found for $15. It used to be an oak type wood stained in a lighter color. It had wooden knobs on it. Anyway I primed and painted it white. Next i plan on glazing it. Dev and I already bought a wooden onlay to go in between the knobs. I will post the end result.

and finally here is the chair that I got for $5. It is primed and now I just need to decide what color to spray it.

here it is with the ugly velvet cushion that it came with. I am either going to recover the cushion or not use the cushion and put a pot with flowers that is just big enough to hang in the middle and put it on my front porch. what do you think I should do?

here are a few more projects that I have planned to do as well. I saw an idea a loooooong time ago in country home magazine similar to the pic below. these old bathroom knobs are pretty dang pricey so when I found this at an antique store for a great deal I was excited. Ok i'll admit the knobs are made of wood but it is exactly the look i wanted. Not sure what I plan on painting it yet. I would like to use it as a towel rack.So when I saw this I got excited because I have had a project similar to this that has been lingering in my mind for some time. I dont plan on keeping it red and I am going to add some more things to it I will show you when it is finished.

I got this old door from my brother in law and I have been trying to think of some ideas for it. We wanted to sand it because paint was chipping off it.

So im thinking that I have got enough projects to last me a lifetime. Dont ya think? But I love the treasurehunt its so much cheaper and funner to be creative and do it yourself.
